What makes a blanket Waterproof
Either a rubberized lining inside the cover of your blanket, or a PFAS chemical barrier applied to the surface of your blanked.
New Blankets come with both these features
What makes a blanket Water Resistant
A spray on treatment to the exterior of the material to prevent water absorption.
New Blankets can come with this.
Are UVs harmful to my blanket
Blankets left on horses even in the winter can be quickly deteriorated by UVs from a sunny day.
This causes color fading and material dryness - ruining the integrity of the material
When to Reapply?
Blankets that have seen 2 seasons - or show color fading benefit from an application of Water Resistant spray.
How often to Reapply
Once they have seen 2 seasons, after each wash they will benefit from an application for UV protection, Water and Stain Repellant

Our waterproofing is not a fix all for blankets with no more material integrity. We cannot waterproof plain cotton, and sometimes older blankets are pretty close.
